American Bar Association Section on Intellectual Property (ABA/IPS)
Here is an excellent gateway to participate in various latest activities and issues discussions within the American intellectual property community. It also contains a large amount of continued legal education programs, including conferences.


American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA)
AIPLA is one of the most active and fastest growing bar associations in the U.S. intellectual property law community. This site contains up-to-date information on the new developments on the United States Congress, amicus curiae briefs filed on behalf the association, position papers and reports from its committees. In October 2000, a newly combined IP Practice in the Far East Committee was formed and its web pages are due to be included in this site (for its members only, however).


Asia Observer
A nice beginning site to get vast amount of information on current issues and developments in the entire East Asian region. Designed and maintained by John Einar Sandvand.


Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC)
This is the site of the APEC Secretariat. It now hosts an impressive amount of studies and events information concerning the entire Pacific Rim.


Asia Source/Asia Society
This is the resource database of the New York-based Asia Society. An excellent portal to various Asian interests and studies. It also contains a good amount of information on Asian Americans.


Biotechnology Information Resource
Prepared by the National Agricultural Library of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, this site is an ideal gateway for those who need to conduct thorough research in the biotechnology area. This site also provides access to biotechnology related patents and a wide variety of federal biotechnology documents.


Cata Law on Intellectual Property Law
A good source of reference for comparative intellectual property studies. The site has clear-cut break-down based on subjects and countries/regions.


Center for Advanced Research and Study on Intellectual Property (CASRIP), University of Washington School of Law
The center sponsors a patent-focused annual summer training institute and an international conference in Seattle in which the Asia Pacific Legal Institute is a co-sponsor. Its regular programs, however, focus more or less on Japan-related comparative intellectual property studies.


Electronic Commerce Policy of the United States Government
A spin-off from the U.S. Department of Commerce's site, this site provides excellent resources and critical gateways on new policy developments to the fast changing world of e-commerce.


Electronic Frontier Foundation's Intellectual Property Online
This site contains many articles on various intellectual property subjects and links to other subject related gophers or servers.


Europa
This is the official multilingual gateway to the European Union. For those who would like to research cases in English, they may want to go straight to the EU Court of Justice and/or Court of First Instance.


Find Law
The Yahoo! or "mega-mall" for laws, law schools, news, legal organizations, publishers, services and a whole lot more. It also has an extensive collection of international links. An excellent starting point for any legal research.

Have a great "shopping" experience with the vast knowledge of intellectual property!


The George Washington University Law School, Jacob Burns Law Library
Leonard E. Kline, the Reference Librarian at the Burns Law Library, does a painstaking but wonderful job by putting together one of the most comprehensive collection of links and resources on intellectual property law throughout the world. A MUST for comparative researches and studies.


Hiero Gamos
This is the directory and search engine provided by Lex Mundi, an association of 152 law firms from various countries. As such, it has multilingual searches and uses "framing" to have viewers look at their search results.


International Intellectual Property Alliance (IIPA)
This is the association or coalition that represents the interests of U.S. copyright industries before the government, particularly Congress and the U.S. Trade Representative Office. Its annual Special 301 Recommendations and Copyright Industries in the United States reports reflect the industries' survey and perspective on global piracy condition and the growth of copyright industries in the U.S. economy, and have been influential documents to the U.S. policy making.


International Intellectual Property Institute (IIPI)
Launched in 1998 by former U.S. Patent and Trademark Commissioner Bruce Lehman of the Clinton Administration, this non-profit organization is geared for research and educational projects for the enhancement of global intellectual property protection. The Asia Pacific Legal Institute is currently in collaborating with IIPI in developing projects in the days ahead.


International Trademark Association (INTA)
This is the site of what may be the largest trademark interest group in the world. It offers its position papers and studies on various current trademark issues, including those related to the domain names and electronic commerce (so called "cybersquatting"). It also contains information on various trademark-related events.


Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN)
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is the non-profit corporation formed to assume responsibility for the Internet protocol address space allocation, protocol parameter assignment, domain name system management, and root server system management functions now performed under U.S. Government contract by Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) and other entities. This site also contains the Uniform Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) and its Rules on domain names disputes now fully effective and implemented.


IP Worldwide
One of American Lawyer Media Inc.'s many publications. This one has good coverage on the global intellectual property development.


ipFrontline
A FREE monthly publication on various topics of intellectual property rights.


Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Helpdesk
A very good reference tool for research concerning the European Union and its members.


Law News Network: IP Law Center
It has good information. But paid subscription is necessary.


Lex Mercatoria
This site intends to serve as a monitor for essential links to international intellectual property, trade and economic laws.


The National Committee on U.S.-China Relations
This is a nonprofit educational organization that encourages understanding of China and the United States between citizens of both countries. Its exchange, educational, and policy programs are carried out in a wide range of fields, especially in the international affairs area.


Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)
For those who are interested in the inter-relationship between intellectual property and investment, electronic commerce, and other trade-related issues, the activities and discussions at the OECD are not to be ignored.


Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA)
This site contains useful surveys, issue papers, and many other materials concerning the interests of U.S. pharmaceutical research firms. It is particularly useful for research concerning biotechnology.


Pipers Virtual Intellectual Property Library
Based in New Zealand, this site offers an excellent gateway to a wide range of intellectual property information and resources in the entire Pacific Rim.


Thomas: U.S. Congressional Legislative Information
This is the official and very useful site to search for any federal legislative information in the United States. It contains vast amount of records which comprise not only the text of the bills, but also the hearing records and reports of the committees.


United States Copyright Office
From copyright basics to the debates on digital copyright protection. This is a major resource and gateway to major copyright information in the United States and elsewhere. The site now offers user-friendly copyright on-line registration.


United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
This is the official site of the United States Patent and Trademark Office. It is also an excellent gateway to search for policies, U.S. and other country's patents and trademarks, and the latest development on intellectual property legislation, such as the landmark American Inventors Protection Act of 1999 (AIPA, as part of Public Law No. 106-113). On line trademark and a pilot online patent prosecution systems are now available.


United States Trade Representative (USTR)
This is the official USTR information resource site where many trade-related international intellectual property documents may be found, such as the annual Special 301 identifications and the WTO disputes.


World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)
This site contains almost all the major international conventions and treaties related to the protection of intellectual or industrial property rights, records of various diplomatic conferences, and more. Multilingual versions available.


World Trade Organization (WTO)
The home of the TRIPs Agreement and many other resources concerning this still very young yet critical international organization.
